The 2025 version of the Group 1 and Group 2 ‘Alternative Certificate to Enter Higher Physician Specialty Training’ have been published to the Document Library of the website.

The certificate is essentially the same as the 2024 version and so both versions are valid for 2025 recruitment. There is one slight change on the 2025 version which is that: ‘Consultants are only eligible to sign these certificates if they have worked with you for a minimum continuous period of three months whole time equivalent within the 3½ years prior to the advertised start date; certificates must have been signed subsequent to this date.’

Previously, this stated: ‘for a minimum continuous period of three months since 1 January of the year three years prior to the advertised post start date’.

Whichever version of the certificate you use, you will need to ensure that the updated requirement is met. This means you must have worked with the supervisor for at least three months since 6 February 2022 for the first round and 4 August 2022 for the second round of 2025 recruitment.
